Fumagalli Paolo
Paolo Fumagalli was born in 1960 in Sassari. A difficult childhood leads him to work very early to support his family. He started travelling in the Sardinian hinterland and he lived in one of the most suggestive town of Sardinia, Bosa. The pristine landscape, the medieval old town, the castle with its legends, develop Fumagalli’s innate artistic talents, giving life to his villages. From the memory of the years spent in these places, Fumagalli will take the joy of his artistic expression; the success in the art market will be an opportunity for redemption from his initial condition.
The lightness, the vagueness of the masses and their combinations, seem like his art belong to abstractionism, but finally the paintings are always condensed in recognizable images with rapid and instinctive charcoal strokes.
In his paintings, Fumagalli opens glimpses of a silent and motionless world, where the passage of man has left tangible signs, but where his absence reigns supreme, evoking a life that takes place outside the perimeter of the canvas.
